How AI assistants choose wheel stores
ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity recommend a few stores per vehicle question. They prefer catalogs with structured fitment, clear specs and a crawlable storefront.
When a shopper asks an AI assistant which wheels fit their truck, the assistant selects a short list of stores whose fitment data it can verify. Stores that hide fitment in click-only filters are usually omitted.
The question they actually get
Typical prompt: “What wheels fit a 2021 Ford F-150 without rubbing?” The assistant looks for diameter, offset, bolt pattern (often 6x135 on that truck) and a retailer that sells a matching set.
Why dropdowns fail machines
A year-make-model widget that only works after a shopper clicks is invisible to a crawler. Specs stuck in a product title like “20x9 +18 6x135 Gloss Black” are better than nothing, but a structured fitment table is what assistants can reuse.
What to publish
Vehicle coverage in crawlable HTML or structured data (ACES/PIES where you have it).
Bolt pattern, offset and hub bore on the product page, not only in a popup.
A public page an assistant can cite — your domain, not a buried app iframe.
